Study at Swansea University
Located on the southwest coast of Wales and at one end of the sweeping Bay of Swansea, Swansea University offers you a wonderful seaside playground with a flexible and comprehensive academic program. The campus is modern and compact and right on the coast. With unspoiled golden beaches, picturesque villages,
numerous coastal trails and a university with strengths in math and the sciences, Swansea is a natural choice.
Known for its large American Studies program, as well as Anthropology and Sociology departments, Swansea provides a flexible academic approach in which you will be able to take courses across the curriculum.
All students are required to enroll in a special pre-session program that focuses on contemporary British politics, culture, and society. Through lectures, seminars, contemporary texts, and films, you'll explore the forces that have influenced British society since 1945. Field-study trips to the Museum of Welsh Life, Cardiff Castle, and Dylan Thomas' house will help to illuminate your studies. You will be required to complete a 1,500-word paper or examination when the course ends.
The Arcadia Advantage
An Arcadia program isn't just about enrolling you in an overseas institution however. It's about all of the services that we provide. Before you go, you can contact our program manager for advice on the application process, choosing courses, or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive, our resident director will lead an orientation program in London that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of England and Wales as well as preparing you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system.
